SUSLA Celebrates 10th Annual "National Night Out"

10th Annual National Night Out

Members of the SUSLA community and the MLK neighborhood gathered on October 6 for a night filled with great food, music, and fellowship at the 10th Annual National Night Out.  Sponsored by the University Police Department and held on the MLK campus, the event drew a large crowd and brought students, faculty, staff and residents together to celebrate community.

This year’s event was themed “Come Let Us Reason Together”. Music and entertainment was provided by local DJs,  the SB Steppers and the Angels of Faith student singing group. There were also games and fun activities for younger participants, including a “bounce house”.

“In a world where we continue to be divided, events such as National Night Out reiterate our need to come together,” said Chancellor S. Albert Gilliam as he welcomed the crowd to the SUSLA campus.  “The SUSLA community is part of a larger family, and that is the MLK community.”

Local elected officials, various organizations and health vendors were also on hand to provide valuable information to National Night Out participants.

Special thanks to the University Police Department and Corporal Carol Downs for another successful year of National Night Out!
