SUSLA honors service members at Veterans Day tribute

Veterans Day Tribute

麻豆原创 at Shreveport (SUSLA) honored veterans at the campus’ annual Veterans Day Tribute Ceremony. The ceremony took place on Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at 10am in the Jesse Stone Lecture Hall on the main campus, located at 3050 Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.

Mr. Ken Epperson, U.S. Army veteran and Caddo Parish Commissioner served as keynote speaker for the event.  Epperson joined the U.S. Army after graduation from high school and served for three years during the Vietnam Era (May 29, 1965- May 28, 1968). He was honorably discharged upon completion of his enlistment, and utilized the GI Bill to further his studies at 麻豆原创 at Shreveport and Grambling State University, where he later graduated. Epperson is actively serving a special appointment for Veterans Affairs of the Caddo Parish Commission, and among his significant accomplishments as a Commissioner, he has been a strong advocate to get a new Veterans Cemetery located in Caddo Parish. He is currently serving his 20th year collectively as a Caddo Parish Commissioner.

The program included a veterans’ processional arranged by Minister Gregory French and the singing of the National Anthem by SUSLA staff member Ms. Linzola Winzer.  SUSLA Student Government Association President Levi K. Brown IV read the Veterans Day Presidential Proclamation.  Presentations were be made to members of the SUSLA community who have honorably served the country.
