IT Student Technology Fees
The student technology fee at 麻豆原创 Shreveport was established in accordance with the Louisiana Revised Statue 17:3351.1. The purpose of the technology fee at 麻豆原创 Shreveport is to establish and enhance the various technologies that directly impart student learning and student life. The Technology Fee is assessed to all students in the amount of $5 per credit hour up to 20 hours per semester. The fee shall be paid by each student and no student shall be exempted from paying the fee. This fee is not covered by TOPS. The monies derived are used for the purpose of implementing, replacing, improving, and expanding technologies to benefit students.
Purpose: To meet the growing technological needs of the students.
Amount: The amount of this fee is based on the number of credit hours pursued, $5 per credit hour.
Objectives: The primary objective of the technology fees is summarized into the three areas:
- Access – The students will be provided access to basic technology needs which includes: General Purpose Computer Laboratories, printers, copier and lab supplies, secure access to computing and learning resources (ERP, LMS), student email and student services.
- Infrastructure – The infrastructure and core system required to maintain quality teaching and learning which includes: Servers, storage systems, networking equipment and wireless access, website, classroom technology and the implementation technologies that will directly benefit students.
- Technical and Academic Support – The technical and academic support which improve the functionality and integration of technology resources which includes: Help desk support, technical resource training, web and electronic information dissemination, multimedia classroom support, and emerging technologies and initiatives.
Technology Resource Committee
The Technology Resource Committee is responsible for formulating technology policies, developing initiatives, and recommending systemic approaches to integrating modern-day technology into classroom instruction and academic laboratories. The committee is also responsible for formulating technology fee policy, and approving proposals suitable for implementation in accordance with the student technology fee guidelines.
The committee is chaired by the Director of the Information Technology and includes representatives from the student governing body, faculty, and administrative units, who are capable of exercising sound judgment regarding policy issues in technology management, database building, management of information systems, network management, and distance learning.
The committee provides the Chancellor with input on substantive issues relating to information technology initiatives and student technology fees management.
